Ephesians 2: 10 "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Dear Friends
It seems all too quickly the summer has come and gone as we find ourselves in September.
A brief update: We have been kept busy on the K&A supporting various boaters' needs. It is a privilege to be able to assist these folk and, in this way, show them how much Jesus loves them and answers our prayers for them. Praise the Lord! More than anything we pray that they will come to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and experience His peace, joy and wisdom in their lives.
We also praise the Lord for the opportunity we have to take out the day boat, Litania, and set up a free drop-in free café on her for boaters once a month. We are praying about increasing the amount of times we take her out for this purpose. Last time, Sue was delighted to share her testimony with one person who asked her about the Christian faith. What a delight it is to share Jesus openly with folk in the hope that they will find Him too.
This summer, at the beginning of July, we began cruising to Ellesmere (on the Llangollen Canal) to be part of the Canal Ministries team, hosting a mission with the churches there at the end of July. The week went well, with coffee & cake being made freely available to all who wanted it.
Conversations about our Lord flowed quite naturally. A lot of Christian literature was offered and received by a number of people, who were glad to have the space & freedom to ask questions about the Christian faith that they could not normally ask. Again, we continue to pray for those who were seeking to know more about Jesus during that week.
Sue preached at a Sunday service; others spoke about Canal Ministries in another church. We had an open-air service; served at a Youth club; others played folk music with a gospel message in one of the hotels in Ellesmere. On the final day, the team hosted a free barbeque & cream tea, Andy with another team member drove the boat we had available to take people for a free cruise along the canal. Praise the Lord, all these events were well received. To our delight also on that day, every hour, one of the team shared a testimony or words of encouragement. It was a wonderful experience! We pray that the seeds sown during this mission will germinate, take root and produce fruit for the Kingdom of God.
Looking to this Autumn, we pray that we will keep in step with the Holy Spirit, always being led and empowered by Him to do the works God has already prepared for us.
We echo for you Paul’s prayer from 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24. 'May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.' Praise God, Amen!
Till next time,
Every Blessing in Him
Andy and Sue Smith
