I have to admit that this is the first prayer letter I have written since Lin was called home last June. She had been determined to write the last letter and sat with her computer on her knees even though she was so poorly.
I also received numerous instructions – “keep on preaching”, “feed the birds”, “keep the family together”. So far all these and more have been achieved and although the sense of loss and loneliness is difficult, to have the support of family and friends and the love of the Canal Ministries team has been wonderful.
Later this year I shall be, God willing, setting out for the Thames and eventually the Grand Union where a mission is planned for mid-June. Please pray for the members of the team who are involved in the preparations and meeting with the local Church leaders.
The Canal Ministries conference has just taken place. We enjoyed fellowship and excellent ministry from Jonathan Herring. It was good to welcome Sue Standley and John and Sheila McGregor into the team while others give up boating to join our associate team and Trustees. A new information leaflet is planned so that we might be able to keep you up to date. Our Trustees will miss our dear friends Stella and Alan who have both retired. There is some concern by the Trust that our finances are declining. Please pray that the Lord provides through His people.
Debbie is now registered disabled and has been given a blue badge for her motability car. Grand-daughter Hannah is doing well in her job as events Manager at Chilworth Manor Hotel. Sam, Amie and great grand-daughter Rosa are doing very well and are helping my second cousin Jono Harvey establish a Church on the outskirts of Southampton.
Lee and Tania and their family are doing well although Lee still suffers pain and stiffness from his sarcoidosis.
John and Laura and the boys are well (Edwards is now “FIVE”) “you coming to my party Granfer?”
Mark and Barbara now own a bungalow in the New Forest. He continues to work from home. My sister Ruth is quite unwell and would value your prayers. I would also like to praise the Lord for our friends Ellen and Robert who kindly opened their hearts and home when Lin’s carers could not come to the boat. They have continued to look after me since Lin died and are very much family now.
I am preaching most Sundays throughout the next few months, including a full weekend of events at Faringdon Baptist Church which my cousin Gillian has arranged in March.
Thankyou for your prayers and continued support.
