Hi Friends and Family

We are currently moored up on Aylesbury Canal Society basin until the end of the winter. As we mentioned in our last update, we have joined Broughton Church for the time we are here and have got involved in the life of the church.

We have started a fortnightly trip from the basin, with the church boat Beacon, taking it down 2 locks to the centre of Aylesbury. Here we serve soup and refreshments to anyone who wants to take a few minutes out of the day to relax and enjoy a free cup of soup and hot drink. Our hope is that people feel relaxed and have a moment to be still. We make ourselves available to talk and offer prayer where appropriate.

The Beacon project has been well received and we served 20 cups of soup on our second week there. Sadly, the canals have frozen up currently and we had to walk down and just chat with people who were around the last week before Christmas.

Being here has given us chance to enjoy the company of two other couples in the Canal Ministries team: James and Hazel and Roger and Jo. This also means we have been able to combine our efforts and help each other. James and Hazel join us on Beacon and Roger and Jo make soup for the trips. They run the church coffee shop, More+ and, with each bowl of soup they sell, a bowl of soup is donated to the Beacon Project.

During the New Year, we will be working with Roger and Jo to help them reinsulate their boat. Due to various reasons, their boat has mould and all the insulation needs removing and replacing. Along with this, the windows will need to be replaced and some welding done. Pray for them, as this is a big job.

2022 has been an exciting year; we have seen God working in wondrous ways. We have seen people renew their faith, as well as begin a journey of faith. There have been answers to prayer, and God has always provided for our needs. We are now excited about what God has in store for 2023.

Pray that we will be guided in the work we do. Pray for the Beacon Project. We have some helpers, but ask that others will capture the vision and take it further. We always value your prayers for God's provision, financially and physically.

There are so many needs and at times we have stood back and asked what can we do? We know the answer to that is to turn our gaze to God, who has all the resources of heaven and earth at His hands, but value your prayers for clarity and wisdom on what we take up and what we have to say no to.

We value your prayers for the Canal Ministries team, and we would benefit from a few more boaters to join the team. Having Roger and Jo "onboard" is a great blessing, and to extend the work we do it would be great to have more. Our vision continues to be to reach out and share the Love of God to the thousands of people who make the inland waterways their homes.

We thank God for His provision. Sent with much love and blessing. Have an amazing 2023.

In His Name
