Our boat is called Ichthus (from the Greek for fish) and spends most of the time on the Kennet and Avon Canal and the River Thames in southern England. It's from here we base our ministry to boaters, cyclists, walkers or anyone near to the waterways.

Ichthus has been our home for the last sixteen years, and we have been fortunate to travel all over the country. She weighs twenty tons (that’s real tons not metric), is made of steel and is 69 feet long. Originally designed as a hire boat, she has gradually made the transformation to a full time home very well. And no, it’s not cold in winter!

We devote all of our efforts to the Ministry, and are supported solely by voluntary donations. We have a radio ministry every two weeks on BBC Radio Berkshire, where John also contributes to the Sunday morning programmes.

Anyone seeing Ichthus is more than welcome to knock on the roof and say hello! The kettle is usually on and we have Darjeeling, ordinary and much preferred Earl Grey tea! Rosie, Jim and the duck are also aboard.

We have been Christians for nearly twenty years now. We would welcome the opportunity to tell what a complete life change has happened as a result of that step, and what has made so much of a difference. We have no wish to “get in your face”, but we simply cannot be selfish enough not to share what has changed everything.

We were tired, feeling lonely, unloved and without purpose; and that has changed forever.
